If you point iTunes on your computer to a folder of images (on your computer), and sync those to your iPad, they exist on the iPad in a discrete folder.
If you take an SD card out of your camera and use the Camera Connection Kit to transfer them to an "Event" album on your iPad, they exist on the iPad in a discrete folder.
If you use the iPad's camera to TAKE photos, and then use the Photo App's software to "collect" some of them in an album, then they exist on the iPad ONLY in the Camera Roll. There is NO discrete folder of those "album" pictures on the iPad, only a label attached to the images in the Camera Roll telling the Photo App to display them AS IF they were a discrete album.
But go ahead. Connect to Windows, browse the iPad or iPhone directory, and if you can find your album, go ahead and copy it.
