[apple-iphone] Adapting to new iPhone X

I have had the iPhone X for about five days now. This thing is fast, fast, fast. I should mention that I upgraded from a 6+ so I may have missed some speed improvements between then and now. This phone is slick. With that said, I am finding it harder than I thought it would be using a smaller width phone and keyboard. I seem to be stumbling over my own thumbs while typing. I am sure that can improve with time and familiarity. Turning the phone to landscape mode was a bit of a strain. I bit too much strain without asking for hand trouble/stress. I happened to go into the Verizon store yesterday for two wireless chargers. While there, I briefly (Like a minute.) played with the iPhone 8+. That phone seemed just as snappy/quick as the X. It was tempting me to go back to the + size. I am shocked that I am sitting on this fence. This was the last thing I expected to happen. BUT, do I want to go back to the Home Button? I think I will give this another day or three to adapt. Did anyone else struggle with going down in size?

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.

Re: [apple-iphone] Review

Susan, I saw the same article and was disappointed with the one hand swipe. Thank you for reporting your discovery! As this group knows, I recently bought two iPhone X. One was for my son who suffered from a disability due to an accident. He lost use in his dominant arm and hand. This new trick will greatly assist him while using his X. Thanks again for sharing, Susan.

Yesterday I read a review about iPhone X. In it the writer complained that the upper right swipe to invoke control center made it impossible to use the X one handed. I tested and yes it is impossible but I decided to try reachability. I swiped down on the bottom edge of the screen- the apps came down. I then tried swiping with my thumb on the right side just above the apps. And lo and behold control center appeared. It is now a two swipe process but very doable one handed. Thought others who use their phone one handed may find this useful. Sue Cordially, Susan Ferraglio-Genecco, DVM

You can also change the screen brightness via Control Center.

Re: [apple-iphone] Any Opinions on iPhone X

I did notice the mail didn't show the emails on the left but I never liked that anyway. The apps on the home screen not rotating I did not miss so didn't realize it didn't work on the X. I stand corrected. Both not a problem for me though.

Susan,

To clarify, when you rotate your screen on a plus in email, you will see two columns, with the message content on the right and the list of messages on the left, in a split screen.

Also, on a plus if you rotate the phone on the home screen, the app icons also rotate and the docked app list moves from the bottom to the right side.

The X does not do this.

I had the 8 Plus and liked the new features but the iPhone X is so much better.

I love the smaller size in the hand but the much larger screen is a delight.

I wish they would allow the screen to rotate like the Plus models do. After all it has a Plus sized screen!

Not all apps yet have been updated to take advantage of the X screen but I am getting updates almost daily that are implementing X screen features.

Enjoy it!

Roger I never noticed that but you are correct. I guess I never used the feature on the phone but I do on my iPad. The X is narrower which may be the reason. I know a couple of apps don't look right in landscape mode - not enough readable space.

The Plus sized iPhones have the apps on the home screen rotate and in apps they rotate and show another column of editing tools in many apps.  It's different than regular iPhones.  I just considered since the X has the same size screen as a Plus sized iPhone it would have this extra feature as well.
