But Bim, you haven't said why you performed radical surgery (a RESTORE) on your phone. That's what Jim is asking. And if a phone under warranty is not performing, then it may not be wise to try to fix it without official advice. If you've already done it, then I hope it improved whatever was wrong (which you haven't mentioned at all)

True..... "flaky" does not help with diagnosis.
I DID "restore" the phone from the iTunes screen and it appears that it did install a new copy of iOS. First it downloaded a new copy of the current version of iOS into the Mac and then it installed it onto the phone.
