Hi Peggy,
You need to set up different apple ids in Settings:icloud - that will make sure your messages and other things like Facetime, backup, etc are unique to you.
Then under iTunes/App store, enter the appleid under which the you purchased the apps.
Another way is to have totally unique Apple ids for both but set up Family sharing.
Not sure where to go to get notifications of app downloads.

Can we share apps but NOT share messages with family members living in the same house?
(Forgive me if I or someone else asked this before)How do I stop my messages from being shared??
Also Why does my hubby get notified when I download an app but I am not notified when he downloads an app? How is this fixed??
Thank-you so much for all your help!!!
Peggy

Have you tried the highest rated email app?
With 4.5 stars in iTunes, the Yahoo Mail app is the highest rated email app on the market. What are you waiting for? Now you can access all your inboxes (Gmail, Outlook, AOL and more) in one place. Never delete an email again with 1000GB of free cloud storage.
