[apple-iphone] Re: No Voice Directions in 'Maps' app

 

Yes, all other sounds are working properly and the mute switch isn't set to 'mute.'  Also, I should point out that one of the times I noted the problem was prior to updating to 7.1.1, so I also doubt the OS is the cause.


I tried Sue's suggestion this morning and was unsuccessful in getting voice output, but I'm not sure I followed it correctly (didn't have hardcopy of the suggestion with me ).   I'll try again tomorrow.

What is it you are trying accomplish? The "sync" only puts all devices on the same page as it were. Once they all in sync any change will be shared to the other devices. If you only make the changes on the iPhone then it acts as the main device.

As the iPhone is your main use device, you cannot I believe make it what everything else syncs to. 

If you sync the iPhone, then purchases will go to your Mac for backup, not use. If you set iTunes to add purchases to other devices on the Apple ID then you are achieving some of what you wish to. The iPad will get what you added to the iPhone. The Mac doesn't use iOS so you cannot use apps/share apps that you got on the iPhone/iPad.

If you use iCloud, you can have the iOS and Macs syncing data such as Contacts, Bookmarks, etc

All other sounds are working normally? So it's not the mute switch? Mine works as before update to iOS 7.1.1 so I doubt it is an iOS bug.

Sounds like proximity sensor problem. Screen is supposedly disabled during a call and your phone's on your cheek.

I feel like I had this issue initially with the 5 when I bought it on "Opening Day" in 2012.  But, I cannot recall if there is any adjustment at all.

[apple-iphone] No Voice Directions in 'Maps' app

 

My 5s is running iOS 7.1.1.  In the 'Maps' app I have only gotten one voice phrase on two or three trips (almost never!).  My voice volume setting for Maps makes no difference in getting voice.  Bluetooth is always 'On' for use with my car's (Toyota) hands-free phone operation, but I don't care if 'Maps' give me directions through the phone speaker or bluetooth, and the few voice phrases Maps has provided were through the phone speaker.  What am I missing (other than the voice )?

iOS 7.1.1 seems to have set al lot of settings to off. This article worked for me on the auto brightness settings. I have an iPhone 5S.

Seems that iOS 7.1.1 reset the zoom level (NEW? feature). See http://forums.imore.com/ask-question/284367-3-finger-zoom-not-working-ios7-1-a.html for details. It's a pain setting the Zoom level with a blank screen, but it works.

iPhone 4 from 7.1 to 7.1.1 using iTunes

The phone took longer to update than I recall from past updates.

After the update Netflix and a couple of other apps did not work. A hard reboot fixed that. Find My Friends app isn't working but I haven't spent any time trying to address it. No other problems.

[apple-iphone] Podcasts - Screen rotationI

 

I usually like to watch video  podcasts on my iPhone 5 in landscape position. Sometimes I will watch a video that way, and then go to the next one from the same source (i.e., NBC Nightly News) and the screen won't go to landscape no matter how much I tilt it. I have checked the screen lock but that is not the answer. Why is this? Is it my phone or is it caused by the podcast itself, or am I doing something wrong?
