Taking your phone to Ireland.

I would get a new SIM card after arrival in Ireland.

1) The card that you get there will work. They might even put it into your phone and test it. The one from Amazon might not match their networks.

2) 99.999% of Irish speak English.  You will not have a communication problem.

Yesterday after calling a hotel I was given four options to connect to the right person. I hit the 1 but nothing seemed to happen. I tried it two more times with no luck.  This morning I thought maybe I had to hit the green phone button after choosing an option number but just hitting the 1 seemed to work. Perhaps the hotel was having a problem with its phone system or is this something that sometimes happens with an iPhone?

Next question.  I'm heading to Ireland in the fall and would like to enroll in an International plan.  Do any of you have any particular recommendations for a SIM card or warnings about SIM cards to stay away from?  I'd prefer to preorder from Amazon rather than trying to deal with the purchase in the Shannon airport.  Thanks.  Joyce Keay
