Joyce -

Sounds good. I was the one who told you to turn off international data roaming. You can do that now to avoid mistakes later. I leave mine off all the time and only turn it on 1. out of the country and 2. when I NEED cellular data for something. That's rare. Use WiFi for data whenever you have WiFi available. Note we are talking about turning off international data roaming, not all cellular data.

Some additional notes:

Texts (SMS) (the green ones) do not use data but iMessages (the blue ones) do use data.

When you use your phone with a US SIM card in Ireland EVERY call is an international call. So if you call your local tour company representative from a local coffee shop that is an international call because you are calling from your US number.

I believe WiFi calling goes back to Verizon in the US over the Internet for connection to the telephone system. That means WiFi calling home is cheap but WiFi calling to local Irish numbers is--again--an international call.
