Re: [apple-iphone] iCloud vs. iTunes backup?

Your SIM is like your identity.
If you want someone else to use your carrier account or your phone number, then you don't have to.

Re: [apple-iphone] How Do You Like Your New iPhone 6 Plus

Mine will arrive in two days.  I already have a Iphone 6 but that does not feel or perform that much differently that my Iphone 5.   I find the Iphone 6 to be OK, but my aging eyes need a bigger screen.  I tried an Ipad Mini and found that too heavy to hold for more than a minute or two.  I'm hoping the 6 Plus is just the right size and weight

[apple-iphone] iPhone 6 Plus. . .wow

Okay, I have had my Applie iPhone 6 Plus 128 GB in gold trim for a few hours now. A few thoughts:

* Gorgeous to look at. Absolutely phenomenal.
* I graduated from a 16 GB 4S, & having 128 GB, although preposterous, is still fun. No more taking off playlists or deleting photos incessantly.
* It's BIG. I know I wanted big. I know they made it big. But, I mean, it's HUGE. It fits perfectly into my cargo pants, "Dad jeans with the side pocket," etc., but the days of one-handed texting, calling, etc. are clearly over. I'm not EXACTLY sure I needed something this big. I am diabetic & my eyesite isn;t great, so the giant screen is awesome (I don't need to pull out my reading glasses to do stuff.) But I am wondering if I should have opted for the 6 instead. Its screen is larger than my ENTIRE 4S was.

Jury is still out. I assume I'll be in love with this phone in a few days (I have 14 days to decide at Verizon), but it's going to take some getting used to. I feel like I am texting on my mother's old typewriter! :-)

Thanks, Tony. I do know that, but I was hoping I'd get used to it. <G> The idea of using mute is a good one, though, if I don't like it after some more time trying to accustom myself to it. I'd like to like the feature, since I think it could be useful in some situations. :) Sandy

I'm really looking forward to trying out the iPhone 6 Plus. I've heard good and bad about it. I've never had a phone that size so don't know if I'm going to like it. I'm hoping I will like it otherwise I'll go for the 6.

Re: [apple-iphone] iOS 8 Experiences...

Hi Dick,

It may be something new to iOS 8.  I text a lot (it is a great way to stay in touch with people all over the world) and had almost 9 GB of messages in storage.  I downloaded some third party apps to try and selectively delete some of the messages.  When I read the post of just reducing the length of storage time in iOS 8 and then to wait I tried it and it worked.

In many previous reads of how to delete messages I do not recall this option so perhaps it is new to iOS 8.

All in all I actually quite like iOS 8.  Like all iOS versions it has its warts.  I just seem to notice them to be a bit more prevalent as compared to previous versions.

Re: [apple-iphone] iOS 8 Experiences...

Yes. I created another folder called Camera Roll but had to take a lot of time " hunting down" what I had in it by sorting through tons of "moments". Now what used to be automatic - I have to manually move any pictures I take on my phone ftp. The recently added to that camera roll. For if I forget it will be gone in 30 days. This new "feature" is the one I dislike on my 5s.
