I know that the TomTom App displays distance and time to destination continuously. On the other hand, re-doing the remainder of the trip would take me all of about 15-20 seconds....

I can't see how the software is going to tell how far it is to a point you haven't previously asked it to calculate a route to.
I suppose you could try asking Siri.
