Re: [apple-iphone] Dead Storage

select them with the Command key, then delete all at once.

More importantly, why are the old versions hanging around? How are you updating?

What version of OS X are you running? How many iDevices are you using?

I've had it happen a couple times. I've been lucky to be able to delete the app, then reboot and start the app downloading again.

[apple-iphone] New iPhone 4 questions

My husband recently bought his first Apple device, an iPhone 4. When I tried to set up his yahoo mailbox I get the message "server cannot retrieve mail." I can get to his yahoo mailbox via the website using Safari
He doesn't have an Apple/iTunes ID. Is this the problem? Would he be better off using Gmail?

I think all the moisture sensors do is turn color. They are chemical not electrical.

I still suggest some time in the rice, at least while you are waiting for the screwdriver and returning it to your daughter. Can't hurt and it can catch water that you can't see.

You should see the array of plugs and adaptors I have in my car for a
radar detector, an iPod, a GPS, a WiFi hotspot, and an extra socket for
my phone charger. I still find myself needing more.

Watch the computer ports. You need a special high power USB port to
charge an iPad at full speed. Otherwise just like with an underpowered
AC adaptor it takes forever. Even though the iPad does not say it is
charging it is getting a trickle charge. Not all computers USB ports
(most in my experience) put out enough amperage for an iPad.

The iPhones charge up the first 80% fast and the last 20% is slow. If you look up the Apple Support article, you run them down until they turn off to start the recalibration.

It does not matter if you run them until empty every time or if you recharge them when only partially down. It all counts to the number of full recharges. In other words, if you recharge 20%, 30%, 65% & 85%, it count as 2 recharges, the same as 100% & 100%.

You should not have tired powering it up until it was dried. The water just moved about. Button it back up and then put it in a bag of uncooked rice for a day or three..

The odd sounds were probably water moving about the jack or speaker connections, and the continued movement finally got the water to land when it would not start up.

So stuff it into some rice for a day or so. She'll be without a phone for a day or so, but that is life.

I used to turn my phone off at night. I don't let it go flat apart from these two times.. Should I let it go flat or low, then recharge to 100%? I normally do that.. When I charge, it may be at work on laptop, slow, or at home on iPad charger, fast, can these affect calibration?

Happy tonight, daughter dropped iPhone 4 into a container of water. Worked but odd sounding speaker (not surprising). Then it won't turn on.

I brought it home as I know how to dismantle it. No screen, plug into power and I get the noise, take a screenshot I get camera noise, so its actually on, maybe screen connector faulty.

No pentalobe screwdriver here tonight, so I do a hard reset, whaa laa I get Apple logo and lockscreen. No passcode as she is in bed at her home but looks good

[apple-iphone] Re: Charger Plugs

The iPhone and iPad chargers are of different physical sizes; the iPhone being smaller. The important difference is the wattage. The iPad 1 does 5 volts & 1 amp output for 5 watts. The iPad 3 does 5 volts & 2 amps for 10 watts (you can get by with 5 watts but charging takes forever). The iPhone needs 5 watts.
