That is fine if the app or hardware that took the photo names it that way. But most don't.

For example, I took a photo of a flyer at the library this afternoon for a small jazz guitar concert and emailed it to myself to remind me. Guess what the name was when I downloaded it at home "photo-9.JPG". And when I did Get Info, it told me the creation time was when I downloaded it from the email. And that was using my iPhone 4S and MBP.

Time Stamp data should be in the photo as metadata, but I don't know how to get to it. Older photos from older hardware may or may not have this data.

Need more info. What computer are you using? You are using itunes on a Computer?

My photos are named "2013-06-16 07.34.00" etc. Looks like a time stamp to me.
