Re: [apple-iphone] Voice in Maps

You can get chargers which plug into the cigarette lighter socket. These are inexpensive and ones with 2 USB sockets mean you can charge 2 devices at once.

From what members have written, it seems the problem with getting spoken directions from Maps (and Google Maps) varies depending on the make and model of car involved.

Since it is necessary to have the phone plugged into a power source to avoid depleting the battery on a road trip--and that seems to be what screws up the car's audio system--it becomes a Catch 22 situation.

Is there any setting that would allow the phone to be plugged in to the car's power source but bypass the audio system?  Just turning off Bluetooth on the phone doesn't seem to be enough.
