I've got one of those. Using it with the iPhone 5S didn't make a difference. Still no sound with or without Bluetooth on. The 7 is new. I'll try it.

You can get chargers which plug into the cigarette lighter socket. These
are inexpensive and ones with 2 USB sockets mean you can charge 2 devices
at once.
