I haven't had the chance to try the entertainment system input yet. However, I did try using the plug-in with Bluetooth turned off and got the directions to speak through the phone.
When I turned on Bluetooth and paired with the car, I could use the car system to make/receive calls, but no voice directions. What I'd like to do is pair with the car for phone calls, but use the phone's speakers for directions. There used to be a setting in iOS 9 that allowed this setup, but I can't find it in iOS 10. I prefer this setup because voice directions through the car lagged enough that the first spoken part was often lost.
