Yes, some bending is inevitable. The answer is to avoid sharp bends and make them as smooth (large radius) as possible.

Right. What caused me trouble, aside from the fact that the latest Apple ones are flimsier, is attaching a battery to one end and then plugging into my phone to charge it on the go. When I put it in my purse, one end bent some. Same with hubby's shirt pocket.
