Sometimes we have a similar problem at home where the cell signal is weak and goes in and out depending on where your standing. Sometimes you get the voicemail if they leave a message but never rang so we always leave a short message when calling each other. On AT&T. I'm not sure if voicemail is traditional cell or might be data.
