RE: [apple-iphone] Sync issue

Interesting.  That happened to me for the first time yesterday.  I have a 5S.

Subject: [apple-iphone] Sync issue

Recently I am experiencing bizarre behavior with my iPhone 4S and iTunes 11.  The iPhone will indicate that there are 4 apps in need of an update by displaying a red circle with the number 4 (or whatever number of apps that are in need of an update) on the App Store icon.  I go into iTunes and download all updates.  iTunes will indicate that there are no additional updates.  I then sync my iPhone with iTunes, and can see that the updates are being installed on the phone.  When I open up the App Store and go to updates, the apps are displaying "OPEN" to the right side of the screen.  So far this is normal behavior.  When I get out of the App Store, the same red ball is still shown on the App Store icon indicating that there are apps in need of an update.  The only way I can eliminate this behavior is to open the App Store and go to Updates, and immediately select "Update All".  If I hesitate for a moment, the apps are shown with OPEN vs UPDATE.  If I am quick enough, all of the apps begin to download and install.  This is the only apparent way to clear the red ball that indicates updates are necessary.  I am syncing iTunes Version 11, however the same behavior takes place with my wife's iPhone 4S and iTunes 12.  Any suggestion would be appreciated as having to download the apps on both the iPhone and iTunes is getting old.
