I assume you had the CDs imported into iTunes and then synced them to her iPod.
If so they are in iTunes. Just sync them to her iPhone.
I have an iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS, iPod Classic, and an iPod nano. I keep various Playlists, that can be installed on these devices, except the nano, it is too small. Your wife can do the same thing.
