I'll give you the quick answer too. You should have simply changed the
location in Preferences and allowed iTunes to update the library (database)
file. By importing from the new location (drive) you added all the entries
*in addition* to the existing ones, hence all the duplicates.
If you had a backup of the iTunes Library *file* from before the change
then you could reinstate that and start again but I'm guessing that isn't
an option.
Delete all songs from iTunes but do *not* delete the files. Then add the
entire iTunes Media folder back in via iTunes > File > Add to Library. You
will lose any playlists but it will be fairly quick because you are just
adding entries back into the database, not moving files.
