What was the book that was downloaded, from where, and in what format?

In my iBook library, I have several "books" that show on my iPhone 4S, that do not show in iTunes > Library > Books. One shows on the iPhone, in iTunes > Devices > my 4S > Books. One is a PDF of an unpublished (on paper) Robert Ludlum manuscript. But yet, an 18 page PDF of an insurance policy for work, does appear.

I do have a PDF book, The Macintosh Way, that has been on the iPhone, shows in iTunes > Devices > my 4S > Books, but does not show up in iTunes > Library > Books. This one is not currently synced to the iPhone.

Disclosure: I do have my books on my internal HD and an external RAID.

So the answer may be, yes, it is a lost cause. I seem to be seeing this disparity elsewhere in iTunes. More recently, than before.
