Try playing the grayed out tracks from iTunes, it may be that those tracks are in error, perhaps they are gone in iTunes (so the music data copied over but not the track itself?) or the file has the wrong hard drive location.

My friend just recently upgraded her iPhone to an iPhone5. She synced her
music to her new phone, but some of her music is grayed out on her phone
and she can't select it. She has made sure that it is checked in iTunes
before syncing, but it's still grayed out on her iPhone5. Can anybody help
me to help her?
