Not true going by my tests. I close my eyes and tap the screen and swipe up to invoke unlock and no go. I think your eyes have to be open as when you initiated the recognition. I suppose someone could scare one enough to open their eyes while they hold your phone in front of your face. Same as getting your finger print without your permission. I don't know if either system is perfect. But I love them both!

This was the first I heard that facial rec needed to get better. I have absolutely no complaints and I have my glasses on or off at any given time and it never skips a beat. I do think that the 8 plus is also an awesome phone..
