1) There are other pencils. I seem to remember that Apple shifted pencil support from the system level to individual apps. So check your apps to see if they support a given pencil.
2) If a pencil is worth the expense depends on one's use - productivity, comfort.
Me, I have three (Apple, Adonit and Wacom?) , but I don't use any.
