RE: [apple-iphone] An iPhone for my wife?

I have an iPhone 4s and I text with family who own Android phones. Add the person as a contact, of course, adding their phone number. Once that is complete, can you not open their contact, then look lower down on the contact screen and see the words 'send a message'. If so, click on that and then compose your text message and send.

Please let us know if this works for you.

Subject: [apple-iphone] An iPhone for my wife?

I have a 4S w/32gb running iOS 8 I really like this phone.

However,
my chilruns have just given my wife a LG D-415 running Android 4.2 - they are
on a T_Mobile family plan and all are using Galaxies, etc.

several problems here. Presently my wife and I are on a shared AT&T plan
which is a Comcast link-in. I text all the time with others using iPhones
but I can NOT text with my kids on their Androids. Wife wants to text with
our kids and her relatives who are also on Androids.

1. Why is it that I cannot exchange texts with an android? is there any
Virtual machine software which allows iPhones to "talk" with Androids? iow,
something similar to Parallels or other?

2. If there is no way to do this, then do we have to carry two phones with
us along with all the plan expense which that entails -- to make my wife happy?

3. imho, I would like to get her an iPhone on our AT&T and let her call all
her androids. I assume that she could write texts and send those to the
email accounts of the androids?

4. I am still not capable of doing all that my 4S is able to do. I could
talk wife into an iPhone but she wants a larger screen.

What is the best iPhone out there since the 4S? with a screen comprarable to
a Galaxy II or III?

thanks for any and all possible suggestions and Everyone, have a healthy and
happy New Year..
