Hundreds of apps. Thats often mentioned with this issue. If it was consistently a few times every week, and if you could be bothered, you could connect to iTunes, unsync down to say 100 apps, see what happens. Then again it isnt really your problem, it needs to be sorted.

Maybe a few times a week. A very small % of the time I call up Spotlight, less than 1 in 20 times. It's a 128 w/ hundreds of apps but more than half of the memory is free.

I experience it more often than I like. When it happens, it's almost always triggered by a Spotlight request.
