Make sure it's protected with a good password. I'm constantly surprised by people, including fictional characters in films and TV, who allow immediate access to their phone on picking it up/stealing it.

For example, a lady slipped on some stairs and everyone looked in that direction. When they looked back, they noticed that a laptop bag (sitting on the ground) had been stolen.
