It will primarily be for use with Windows 8 laptop to install data from various mains powered external drives, then to view on my iPad, I don't have a Mac. It is battery operated as well as having its own wireless connectivity so looks a very versatile drive compared to those I currently have, and I have read that it has the capability to stream HD Video to 3 connections, not that I'll be needing that, but just looking for people's opinions that have used it in every day use.
I have tried a 3TB AirPort Time Capsule but it did not help remove 2 black spots in my home wi-fi as hoped so returned it. It's the portability of the LaCie that is tempting me to get one.
