Re: [apple-iphone] Face ID

 

I do love Touch ID myself, but I find it not working when I'm sweaty or when I have just washed my hands. That's why I love Face ID even more.

Besides, I prefer Apple's Touch ID over (at least) Samsung's. (I have the "twins" iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6.)

Ditto here for both my iPad Pro and my iPhone X. Glasses or sunglasses on/off, low light, makeup or none, hair in a towel or not, etc. One thing I was told when I first bought my X was that, if my face wasn't recognized at first, I should not immediately put in my password. Simply try again before resorting to the password, giving the phone a chance to "learn me" better. I love FaceID.

[apple-iphone] Re: Face ID

 

I think the distance from the camera to your face has to be a minimum distance. I'm not sure exactly how close is too close but my Face ID works excellent at a distance but not when up too close. Overall I am amazed at how great it works, both on the iPhone and the iPad Pro.

Face ID seems to work about 40 percent of the time for me. I have an XSMax. I have rebooted, set up new FaceID recordings, but nothing seems to make a difference. When I first got this phone (launch day) I thought it worked incredibly well. Maybe only one out of 50 times or more would I have to enter the code to access by phone. I want to say the problem started about the time of the last update, but it could've been before that. Ideas? Tips? Thanks.

Face ID works perfectly with me on an Phone XS. It does recognize me in half light with glasses on, but it won't recognize me with a fleece cap across my forehead and ears.

It recognizes me with the stocking cap, if there is about 2 fingers width between my eyebrows and the edge of the cap.

If the cap is right down to my eyebrows, it fails.

I wonder if changes in make-up or in hair-do (yes or no covering forehead or ears, coloring), perhaps in ear jewelry worn could cause the difference.

Apparently, growing a beard (i.e., slow change) does not interfere with FaceID, but if it learned you when you had a full beard, then shaved it off, it would be ore likely to have trouble.
