I have an iPhone 6+ running iOS 9.3.5. It's 64 GB.
For a couple of months, when I plug it into iTunes for a backup on my Mac, iTunes show that it is full beyond capacity. If you could see the usage bar graph at the bottom of the iTunes window, the green area for Documents & Data (near the Sync and Done buttons) goes all the way to the end.
After I perform a sync, the green part of the bar recedes, and show that I have 9-16 GB free (it varies a lot). How can I find what those docs and data are, so I can delete the superfluous stuff? The Manage Storage section of Settings only shows what apps I have installed.
One other strange thing is happening. For several days, it appeared that after I deleted all the emails in my accounts, in two of them the mails reappear, even after I have emptied the trash.
On top of that, suddenly the Flagged folder showed that there were thousands of emails. I deleted two accounts, and the number of Flagged items reduced to fewer than 20.
Next, I re-added the two accounts, and now the Flagged folder shows 9267!
What in the world is going on, and what do I do? I'd liked to get things in order before installing iOS 10.
Thanks
