Thank you so much, Sue. You have solved the problem with a vengeance - so that's where the things are - the DCIM folder in My Computer! I have wondered about that for years, and now I know. They had to be somewhere. I go into My Computer for various things (managing the disks etc) but have never explored it properly - very logical. Thanks. Goodbye Picasa. Thanks.

For several of my iPhones over the years I have used Picasa to download my photos to Windows 7. This has always worked for my current iPhone 6 plus - until the last few days (Is it perhaps the latest iOS update). Suddenly the iPhone and Picasa between them have completely (and boy do I mean that word) lost the plot. Photos are being downloaded into folders with extraordinary dates on them, and without any cohesion between photos taken on the same day. Yesterday's photos on my Camera Roll appear in various folders with all sorts of dates going back several months. One photo from my daughter's wedding in January 2015 appears via Picasa with a 2011 date on the folder in Windows. Etc etc. as I say, totally lost the plot. This may date from the last iOS update a few days ago.
Any comments anyone please? Also what alternative ways are there to transfer the Camera Roll photos apart from Picasa or emailing them from the phone to myself? I sync using iTunes but that does not seem to sync the Camera Roll, only my pre-determined Windows photo folders.
