Re: [apple-iphone] Downloading photos- Picasa has "lost it"

Nick,

I use Windows to transfer my photos from the camera roll to my PC. I have Windows 10 now, and previously did this with Windows 7. 10 does it slightly differently than 7, but in both cases the photos are put into folders with the date as the folder name. The transfer happens as soon as I connect my phone to the pc - it is not part of iTunes.

It's been a while since I set it up, so I'm not sure how I did it. The first time I connected my phone, Windows asked how I wanted to treat this device (similar to when you connect an external hard drive). I believe I selected import photos, and selected something to do this every time. I'm guessing if you go in Windows Explorer and right click on you iPhone (under my computer) it will show you these options.

Have no explanation for your issues but I use iTunes to sync my iPhone via cable  to computer. Photos in the camera roll do not sync. However an app like Photosync wirelessly transfers multiple photos or videos extremely well. I use it all the time. Or if using Windows, you can connect your phone via the lightening cable click on computer from the start menu and locate the phone. Click on the phone and go to the dcim folder and copy or cut them to the folders you want.

For several of my iPhones over the years I have used Picasa to download my photos to Windows 7. This has always worked for my current iPhone 6 plus - until the last few days (Is it perhaps the latest iOS update). Suddenly the iPhone and Picasa between them have completely (and boy do I mean that word) lost the plot. Photos are being downloaded into folders with extraordinary dates on them, and without any cohesion between photos taken on the same day. Yesterday's photos on my Camera Roll appear in various folders with all sorts of dates going back several months. One photo from my daughter's wedding in January 2015 appears via Picasa with a 2011 date on the folder in Windows. Etc etc. as I say, totally lost the plot. This may date from the last iOS update a few days ago.

Any comments anyone please? Also what alternative ways are there to transfer the Camera Roll photos apart from Picasa or emailing them from the phone to myself? I sync using iTunes but that does not seem to sync the Camera Roll, only my pre-determined Windows photo folders.
