Sounds like me a lot of the time - glad the problem was resolved.

Re: [apple-iphone] 7.06 mail problem

Yeah, it usually works better if they let the updates run until completion and follow the directions like let the device reboot.

I had assumed he or she had.

I have no problems with with my 4S running iOS 7.0.6.

I assume your friend is using Mail.app, correct?

But who is the email provider, yahoo, gmail, comcast, rr, who?

Re: [apple-iphone] 7.06 mail problem

It may or may not, but there have been lots of email issues lately that relate to yahoo and gmail, which both recently made changes on their end, also. Whether it is a POP or IMAP account may also matter.

How you read your email, may be different than how I read my email, you can not assume that we both use the same method. With computers there are often several ways to reach the same destination.

Since there is no obvious answer to the problem, the first thing to do is narrow it down.

And one question I forgot to ask is whether they changed from using Mail.app to webmail, or vice versa.

I had no idea what this was until it happened at least once maybe twice. It hasn't been a huge problem yet and hope it won't be

Re: [apple-iphone] alert or notification

Have you checked Notification Center settings to make sure that Mail is included & the appropriate options are selected?

Now I have the same problem with my iPad since the iOS update.

If no one else is having this problem then maybe there is a problem with one of my apps.

The provider should not make any difference. This has to be something within the phone.

I read a tech blog yesterday that said the 'fix' for this situation is to close all apps by double-clicking your Home button, swiping up on each icon & then holding down the Home & On/Off buttons until the Apple icon appears on your screen.
