May not be an exact match for your hot tub but the Apple store sells a wireless grill thermometer that can be read out on your iPhone with an app.

The solar panels are below the hot tub so when the controller shuts the pump off, there is still convection flow. This often makes the hot tub 8 to 10 degrees hotter than the max set point of the controller. Once the pump shuts off the panels can still boil. This sounds like there is an elephant walking on my deck.
