Re: [apple-iphone] ATT Data being used up.

Very good, Jim, but it is not internet or messaging. It is another service.

I am with AT&T. My bill shows Data Transfer and Text Messaging, but no MEdia Net. It is a service that is not needed and apparently for the OP using up a large portion of his data plan.

He could help himself, if he would call AT&T and discuss it with them and decide if he needs it or not. I turned it off back in 2005. Most of it is marketing, trying to sell you something, IIRC.

All JJ has to do is, pick up his iPhone 5S and dial 611 and discuss it with them.

Re: [apple-iphone] ATT Data being used up.

441KB is almost nothing. What is the amount of your data plan?

MEdia Net is a AT&T service, call them up and discontinue it, since you don't know what it is is, so you are not using it.

I have an iPhone 5s with the latest iso7. When I look at my ATT online usage is shows the following.

2/30 11:28 AM phone Internet/MEdia Net Sent 441 KB

There are several times each day this line items shows up. In the 4 days since our new billing cycle whatever is sending this has used nearly 65% of my data plan for this line. Does anyone know what app could be doing this? I have found the same type entry on all 4 iPhones lines I have. I have a 3gs, 4, 5 and 5s. The crazy thing is during the times this is happening the phones have access to wifi. any ideas are welcome

[MacBook] Marcus, My first MacBook

I agree with Ron 100%.   I switched to Mac 3 years ago.  In Nov. I got an iPad Air and this month a MacBook Air 13"  and am glad I did.   I thought about getting the new MacBook Air a lot because I still love the Pro but,   I love it too!
It was a wonderful Christmas present to me from me.
Ron said you will never, ever, never, go back and he's right!
Merry belated Christmas to you and Happy New Year!

I hae just bought a MacBook Air 11" 256Mb.  I've been using windows notebooks and pc's until now.  I use iPad and iPhone for some time, and I love them.   But that is my first contact with MacBook and, so far, I think I am doing well.

Hoping to learn with you people.

Greetings to all,

[apple-iphone] Re: Password Manager for iOS Apps?

Have been using Lastpass for 2 years on pc and the app on phone since spring. Get the paid version. It works great. Sync works from either device you initiate a record from. I recommend Lastpass.

[apple-iphone] Re: iPone/iPad texts

Hi, I just posted this on the iPad group but I see the same question here so :

You should not be getting each other's messages. Here is how to fix it:

SETTINGS----MESSAGES----IMESSAGE ON----.....
Then, the crucial part, look down the rows under iMessage and three row under you will see it says SEND RECEIVE, Touch this and SELECT WHICH numbers/emails you want that particular device to be using. For people on wifi only iPads/iPods, it gives you the option to add your unique email address which doesn't have to be the Apple ID associated with the account!

So, all of my family's various and plentiful idevices all share the Apple ID for apps-songs etc, but for iMessage each person's devices are unique.  You can, however, make one person's iphone and iPad respond to the same iMessage (by selecting the same number/email address on those two devices- so you can reach say, Mom on both her iPad and her iphone with the same iMessage, but this is not mandatory, only if you choose to in the way mentioned above).

[apple-iphone] RE: when I plug my iphone in to windows8 laptop it crashes

Try plugging it into a 2nd Window 8 laptop and see if it crashes that one too.  That would tell you if maybe it is the Windows version.

Re: [apple-iphone] iPone/iPad texts

I suggest to leave iMessage on, and setup an iCloud email address for hubby, using his normal email address

In iMessage settings, Send and Recieve, set the email address to his normal one, the iCloud one. If the iPad is Cellular, thats not really relevant as its not a phone, it won't get SMS texts as far as I know.In iTunes settings, keep using your Apple ID, so you can both share apps and iTunes sourced content

A wonderful Christmas to you Pat!

I presumed that your husband ipad is only a wifi compliant, since your text messages appeared on it, of which this will not happened if it is a 3G device because there has its own number.

In some other instances, setting up accounts like in iTunes, pretty sure you had entered your mobile number and some other contact details or informations which you cannot prevent some of your SMS appeared on his ipad.

I just wanted to know if your husband used his ipad as one way of sending sms, if not, go to:
Settings
     Messages
            iMessage (this must be disabled)

Remember that you said, only some of your messages and replies, this might only occured when both contacts turned ON the iMessage OPTION.  Turning OFF iMessage, ipad will not anymore received text messages.

My husband bought an iPad Mini two weeks ago and I set it up on my iTunes account.  I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 5.  What just started to happen a couple of days ago was that he is receiving some of my text messages.  Not all of them, but just some of my responses.  I really don't mind that he sees them, but how do we change this?

I do not have my email set up on his iPad, just his email account..

Thanks for your help.

Check to see what addresses are enabled for iMessage. I suspect that you have some in common between your husband's iPad and your iPhone.
