While possible it seems unlikely to me that your problem is with your phone.
Since we have not heard consistent reporting from others it also seems unlikely to be a problem with Verizon at large.
What hasn't been mentioned is that your Verizon account setup has been corrupted. While that is subtle difference from Verizon at large it would explain the sudden problem. I suggest some time on the phone with Verizon support.
