Re: [apple-iphone] Problem

Brent...
Thanks sooooo much for taking the time to try to help with my problem.  I will try to take things one at a time and see if I can get this figured out.
I have had this phone for several years and never had this problem until lately.
When this does happen, on the "other" end, it never goes to voice mail, so the ones that I know, I have mentioned for them to send a text.  Sometimes it is just different numbers.  The ones that I have names to show up, I just call them back, of course.

Since it seems to happen often enough, from people you know, then start tracking your location and ask them theirs. With AT&Ts Mark the Spot, they can sometimes make a change to fill in those bad spots. They just can't move hills, canyons or large buildings. All locations that could have bad reception.

Also, if they really need to contact you, have them try to leave a message or send you a text. Text will go through where a voice call may not. Verizon should have a generic text address for your phone like (your number)@vzn.com, that you can give to those important callers.

Also look for problem reports for you phone model. I used to have a phone that was so bad, that you could put it into a brown paper bag, and it thought it was a PB&J sandwich. VZN lost my business because they would not tell me there was a problem with the phone, even after working with one of their engineers for over a year to fix the problem.. Not all phones are make alike. This was long enough ago that the phone prior was a Motorola StarTac. You could put it in a bank vault, inside a mountain, and it would receive the call.

I also had one friend that always sounded like we were taking with tin cans and strings. He finally changed carriers.

My carrier is Verizon if that might help. I will check with them to see what help they can be.  A lot of times, when this happens, I can see the name or number that is calling....a lot of the time it is people that I know, so of course, I try calling them back.  Sometimes, it will go through to them and then sometimes it rings and then it stops like they answer.  There again, I can not hear them..  So, guess it does that "both ways" at times.

When this happens and it is someone I know, it is not a big thing.  BUT, I have had some that were important calls that I was waiting on and was not sure if it would be that call or not.  Then, if I call the number back, it may be a location that one person answers the phone but there are many offices in the building....so, there again, I am not sure who called.

Thanks Brent for your reply.  Hopefully, I do not need a new phone.  I like the one I have just fine....except for this. lol

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

For the call where the person said it just rang, I would check with your carrier. ATT has an app called Mark the Spot to report those calls. Don't expect a fast fix, but if no one reports it, it will never get fixed. Or it could be the other persons carrier.

For the other no ones there, scammers do that a lot. Often when the robo dialer is faster than their agents are ready.. Especially if you don't know the number, or the number is from your area code and prefix.

I have an iphone 6 plus...
Sometimes the phone rings, I see who it says is calling.  Then I say "hello" and it is like no one is there. I say "hello" several times and can not hear anyone on the other end.  I can see the timer is running like someone is on the other end.  When I have asked, one of the people that called stated on their end, the phone just rang and rang and they could not hear me and it never went to voice mail. (I am not sure if they were all like that or not.) This happened a lot a couple of months ago a lot, and then it stopped.  Now, it has started doing it again.
Would you happen to know if there is anything I can do to correct this or do you think the phone just might be old and I need to get another phone?
Hoping some one will know why this is happening.
Thanks.
