Despite being a member of this group and considering myself fairly conversant with basic technology obviously I fall into the least intelligent bracket!  Woe is me!

This is a disservice to Apple users BY THE APPLICATION AUTHORS, not by Apple.
Limiting support of older OS's is part of what prevents Apple from becoming Microsoft…

I can't speak to "proper", but Apple provided warnings for several months, if not years.

Which, if true, means that only the least intelligent failed to understand…
