VueScan is good but have you tried the built-in Image Capture app?

I have a HP scanner which is Wifi enabled.
With my desktop, I can scan in color with 1200 dpi.
I have tried a few apps but the scan quality was monochrome and 300 dpi.
Is there an app which will get me to that quality?
