Look in settings, iCloud and see if Calendar is turned on in both devices.

I misread what you said. Last week I purchased an AppleWatch Sport, and though still learning all it does, I'm very pleased with it. My question concerns when and how all my Apple devices decide to agree with each other, especially the Calendar functions.I make most Calendar/scheduling changes on my iPad 4, just because I usually carry it, and my aging fingers are more agreeable to accurate typing than on my iPhone 5s. I'm not on iCloud Drive yet, as my MBPro isn't up to Yosemite yet. The phone and watch talk by Bluetooth, and seem to agree rapidly after a Calendar change physically typed into my phone. However, if I type a Calendar change into my iPad, as I did last night, sometimes the phone and therefore watch don't pick up the iPad change, even overnight. When I saw this outcome this morning, I went into the phone and made one small Calendar test change, after which the phone and watch immediately picked up the change plus all the Calendar changes from overnight. So, what should I normally expect as far as when a Calendar change on iPad wirelessly (Wifi or Cell) "sync's" with the other iDevices (and/or my Macs)? Thanks,Dick
