Re: [apple-iphone] Re: Is it possible to use iphone inexpensiely in Europe ?

Peg,

It is only expensive if you use Verizon's service plans.  If you get a local carrier overseas it is actually much cheaper than in the US.

While the iPad is useful, it isn't as convenient if you want GPS directions or transit directions to use the subway or bus to get around in a city.

Try to get a local SIM card and try out.  You would have to do the same thing with your iPad or rely upon hotel wireless connections.

Thank-you Sandy, Brent, Alvin and Jay for your responses.

I went to visit my server (Verizon) I was told that using my iphone in Europe could be very expensive even with their plan for over seas. However, the salesman told me what he does. He uses his ipad to send and receive text messages with little to no cost. So, I think I will do that.

I can imagine many ways your iphone would be handy for you to use during trips!

I do wish using our iphones when we travel would be less complicated, not to mention more reasonably cost.

Thanks, Peg
