A few weeks back - I asked if anybody knew an answer to how to restore the explorer-like folder list that used to be on the left side of iTunes. I foolishly let it update - and lost that very useful feature. It has been a long odyssey - and several VERY un-welcome sync cycles, but I found the answer. I had to pay money for a third party program, but I got the functionality back that I needed. It is a $30 program called "iMazing", It really isn't explorer like interface either, but if I want to add one song to my iPhone without a stupid "sync" and all the time it takes and potential damage it does (it erases some of my movies), the functionality is there. Adding one song to the music is very fast and painless. Perfect for when you are going through a mountain of old tapes and vinyl and adding them to the MP3 library. iTunes still has the "add file" feature, and iMazing can then add that song from the iTunes library onto the iPhone.
I have no connection whatsoever to iMazing - just found it to have the functionality that used to be in iTunes.
