I have the 64Gb version. I use it to video my toddler using Looxcie camera. So I have a lot of videos. I started with 16Gb iPhone 4S. That was not enough. I gave it to my wife and got myself 32Gb iPhone 4S. That wasn't enough either, so I got myself 64gb iPhone 5 when it came out and gave my iPhone 4S 32Gb to my son.
It all depends on how you use your iphone. I don't have much games, but I also use the iPhone for photo, photo stream, music (10gb worth) even with iTunes Match enabled and video recording.
My wife is fine with her 16Gb. My son on the other hand, 64Gb won't be enough let alone 32Gb. He got way too many games.

I just have not removed it from my iPhone, yet. You have to create an account on a cloud server, and I don't see the need. I use Bento, and I just sync my recipes between _my_ iPhone and _my_ Mac. No servers or account and passwords involved.
