Reading thru the posts..I find it all difficult. I just wanted to mention that yesterday I was trying to reorganize my pictures in Iphoto. All of a sudden all my picture events disappeared. Some were there but when I opened the event they said not photos. Very frustrating. It took time but I went to my latest iphoto library and then time machine and went to a slightly earlier date and added them. I made the mistake of ending the process early because I didn't think it was working, and my entire library disappeared. Eventually I went a little further back in time machine and got my library back but not all my pictures. So these posts talked about backups which is what I'm going to say here:
Thank goodness I was playing around with drop box the other day and I uploaded all my pictures and a copy of them went to my computer drop box folder. I still don't get how drop box works but I'm trying to figure it out. Then today, I went back to Iphoto and uploaded pictures from my dropbox folder. Besides the fact that it took forever to get all this done, including uploading my 3000 odd photos, I got most of my pictures back. I'm sill trying to wait for streaming from my iphone to add the latest pictures, but streaming is so slow on my computer and not always predictable. A picture I took a couple days ago is still on my phone but will not stream to iphoto...I don't know why. So then I then end up emailing my favorite pictures to myself,like the picture I just mentioned, slide them onto my desktop and then add them to my iphoto. I often keep another copy on in a folder which I hope to burn onto a cd or flash drive someday (if I live that long).
This is not ideal my any means. It is an organizational nightmare at times. Now that most of my pictures including all those I originally deleted are back. After spending hours organizing my pictures into events before iphoto when ballistic and quit now my imports are totally disorganized and I don't know if I have the patience to reorganize them into events again, only to perhaps find out that iphoto quits on me again. And I have to delete all those unwanted photos that I had already deleted.
