It is a setting to play at a faster speed - are you using the Podcasgs app or iTunes - if the podcasts app slide up the cover phone at tap the x until it gets back to 1x or 1.5x ( I listen at 1.5x or 2x depending on the podcast) if it is the audio app i believe it is in the upper left corner
