This is a software bug that needs fixing. You should be able to take the pic from any of the 4 orientations and get a right side up picture. If I take the same picture from all 4, I get 4 different pics, and it matters not if I use the volume button or the screen button. If I take a "portrait" shot it comes out upside down when viewed on the PC's picture viewer. I hope this gets fixed.
