[apple-iphone] Cleaning switches.

 

The switches (power,volume, home,mute) on my well used 3g have become less responsive and intermittent. Has anybody made an attempt to clean them? The "genius" at the Apple store could only suggest a soft brush. Has anybody tried spray on contact cleaner or similar?
