Have you tried the highest rated email app?

Note: most of my reaction regards text message forwarding, but it might correspondingly apply to call forwarding.

Almost two years ago I started using an iPhone on my primary mobile subscription and an Android phone on a new secundary one.

I have that primary number configured with my mobile provider (T-Mobile in the Netherlands) so that an incoming call will be forwarded to the secundary number if it isn't answered in due time. No problem. The secundary number might as well have been with another provider.

I intended to have text messages handled in the same way. However, the provider doesn't support this. Nor does Apple, for our privacy. Android doesn't bother, so the reverse is no problem (regarding text messages).

The bottom line is for me, that I must use an iPhone to receive verification codes. No problem either, but I intend to renew that secundary subscription (due in September) and upgrade it to unlimited data. I may be tempted to having only an Android device with me on occasions.

So, if we should mean the same by "call forwarding", then it is a provider matter for me - but things may differ among providers or countries.

This is really confusing.

I've been switching SIM cards and trying things.

My iPhone can do call forwarding when it is connected to Mint, so the call forwarding system must not be bent; but it cannot when it is connected to Red Pocket. (Mint is T-Mo, Red Pocket is AT@T)

My android phones can do call forwarding on both.

I think that I'll take a nap and stop thinking about making the iPhone do call forwarding on Red Pocket.

Today I reset the phone to factory settings and restored the iOS 11 software with a fresh download from Apple....  whatever the current level is...

That did not affect the behavior.

Resetting Network Settings again is unlikely to reset anything else.

I suspect that there might be some commands that go deeper than the firmware refresh done by "Restore the iPhone"..

My phone does not successfully read the current call forwarding settings from the carrier when using the menus and fails immediately when using the *21*XXXXXX# style command.

This is not really a critical need so I might wait until after upgrading to iOS 12 before going to the Genius Bar. The phone is out of warranty.
