Re: [apple-iphone] iCloud vs. iCloud Drive

iCloud Drive is a storage mechanism and here's a little info from Apple about it:

Sorry I don't know about transferring info from one iCould account to a new one.  If none of our other list members chime in, you might give Apple Support a call at 1-800-275-2273.

I have 2 Macs and 3 iDevices as noted below. They communicate with my single iCloud account based on my main E-mail address at OnlineOK.com. I have not started using iCloud Drive, but I have one iCloud address as below. OnlineOK as an email and as an ISP will cease to exist this month.
     1) what is the difference between just using iCloud as I am now vs starting to use iCloud Drive (what do I gain by starting iCD)? I understand I'd at least have to upgrade the MBP to Yosemite.
     2) if I start a new iCloud account (using its iCloud.com address as the primary address), is there a way to transfer/copy all contents of the current iCloud account to the new one?
Thanks,
Dick
