I bought one and it worked great , a VicTec 10000mAh . Pretty sure I had the 6 by then but it'll work on any model. Start it fully charged and you'll get a couple of charges out of it. Buy it ahead of time and make sure you have a good one. (for $16, there may be quality issues)
Do read the fine print and manage your expectations. A full day of sunlight won't get you a full day of phone use, day after day. But starting with a full charge and keeping this thing in the sun all day I made it through a five day folk festival and camping trip with bars to spare.
For backup, I did bring along one of those little chargers that charges from AA batteries but I didn't have to use it. Haven't tried it on the 6 but on the 4S I got about 15% charge with two AA's.
I don't think more expensive ones are necessarily better than cheap ones.
The nice thing about having a $16 one is that I could leave it charging on top of my car and not worry too much about it getting stolen. You don''t want to leave them INSIDE the car because it gets too hot.
