Re: [apple-iphone] Re: Switching from WiFi to cellular

I don't understand why it won't register with the cell signal. The iPhone will find my home network and login automatically. Isn't that kind of the same thing?

Yes. Turning cellular back will search for a signal. But what you need the phone to do is register with the network & just turning cellular on will not nessasarly do that. All it does find a signal.

If, in fact, the iPhone doesn't work like that with a cell signal, is there a plausible reason why not?

Very nice price. I've been using 1Password for years. Great app.

As a fix, I copied the file and pasted it into Pages '09 (version 4.0.3). Spent considerable time repaired all the deletions, reformatted and moved to GoodReader and am now able to read it.

> Why not load it into Pages for iOS?

I had forgot why I didn't do that…
I moved a coupla files to the Pages app a half hour ago and Synced.

Still waiting for them to appear.

iPad Pages is the latest, version 2.0.1.

In the meantime I updated a file to GoodReaded and was able to read it immediately

iWork has never been an app, but always a suite of 3 apps (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote).

The iWork '08 suite was replaced by iWork '09 in January 2009. I suspect the file type didn't change between those versions, but it has now.

It is likely your version of GoodReader cannot read any newer format? Its description in the iTunes App Store states it can read iWork '08/'09, but says nothing about the current versions.

Why not load it into Pages for iOS?

Re: [apple-iphone] please beware

I recently received a similar email from the "iCloud Team" so I reported it to Apple & their rep asked for the sender's address which happened to be @mac.com so hopefully they shut that down.  The scammers are probably very busy this holiday season!

Re: [apple-iphone] Switching from WiFi to cellular

If you have apps that are expecting push notifications, that is what is probably causing those "No internet connection available" messages.

Since you keep the cellular data turned off many times, I would turn off the push notifications to stop the messages and since you are on a limited data plan, that will help to lower your usage for when you really need it.

It is like most things in life, you have have it cheap, fast or high quality. You can have only two of the three. In this case since the quality is the same, you can only pick one.

Thanks Brent.. I will see if that is the problem. Maybe it takes  few more seconds than I was willing to wait before rebooting.

The alternative is to leave cell data setting on at all times, and turn of cell data for the individual apps as well as to make sure no apps are set to push notifications.

I cannot use airplane mode, because then I lose my phone connecetivty as well, and cannot call out, nor can I receive calls.

[apple-iphone] new Pages anomaly ("Feature")

Hi,

With Pages 5.0.1, I created a pages document and saved it as .pages.

I put it on the Apps list, of my iPad, for GoodReader.

Now when I try to open it I get there error "This file must be saved in iWork'08 with "include preview" option.

Question: I didn't know iWork'08 was an app, where do I get it and why does Pages no longer save in the proper format. The previous version worked.
